WICHITA ASHRAM
OUR ASHRAM
The Heart of ShambhavAnanda Yoga Teacher Trainings™, located in Wichita, Kansas
We believe Hatha Yoga in the ShambhavAnanda Yoga tradition is more than physical exercises; it is part of a comprehensive system that can lead to the experience of the innate perfection within each of us. Our RootsWe teach and practice hatha yoga as taught by our Guru, Sri Shambhavananda. Our yoga ashram is part of a 5,000-year-old spiritual tradition which uses hatha yoga as a means to prepare one’s body and mind for meditation. The word yoga comes from the Sanskrit word yuj, meaning “to yoke.” Therefore, we use yoga asana as a vehicle through which to yoke, or join, the body with the mind as a path to enlightenment. Our PhilosophyOur approach to teaching hatha yoga includes Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras and the eightfold path. These eight steps act as guidelines on how to live a meaningful and purposeful life. They serve as a prescription for moral and ethical conduct and self-discipline, direct attention toward one’s health, and help us to acknowledge the spiritual aspects of our nature. Our FoundationParticipants in any of our Yoga Teacher Trainings are taught yoga asana and proper alignment of the body as a means to prepare oneself for seated meditation, learning to quiet the mind and regulate the breath-flow to come into harmony with the body and one’s own inner self or consciousness.
Donations to our Ashram and school can be made on Venmo. @Wichita-Ashram-108.
“The purpose of Shambhavananda Yoga is to give you an experience of the subtle body, to connect to a deeper level of consciousness, and to function from there. Shambhavananda Yoga has to do with the unfolding of the energy centers in your subtle body. As you progress in your spiritual evolution, each situation that manifests in life can be used to increase your awareness of the Inner Self.”
– Sri Shambhavananda
